Engroup 1.5 Roadmap
We have just finished the first internal milestone of Engroup version 1.5. In this version we focus on Document and Knowledge Management system and integrate this module with the existing modules such as Human Resource and Customer Relationship Management. We limit the scope that make Engroup Document Management module is usable for most of user, some advanced features such as workflow or email integration are tentative put in the next Engroup version.
Engroup Document Management module (EDM) is developed base on the Java JCR 170 specification with the implementation is Jackrabbit (http://jackrabbit.apache.org/). The jackrabbit provides to us the content model,
authenticates/authorizes user base on Engroup user database (combination between LDAP and database) and support searching with the help of lucene library. EDM will supports some simple methods to classify documents via category/status of document, tag system
also provide the simple statistical data. We plan to release Engroup 1.5 via 3 external milestones:
- Engroup 1.5 M1:
- File operations:

- Upload single file, bulk file (in zip/gzip format)
- Delete files.
- Rename file, move file.
- Copy file.
- File shortcut.
- Download files (support bulk download with zip format)
- Searching:

- Text search.
- Category search.
- Tag search.
- Version:
-
- Track document history via version.
- Can get the previous version artifact.
- Engroup 1.5 M2:
- Security:
-
- User workspace: each user will have his/her own workspace
- Authorize whether user has right to access Engroup resources via resource permission.
- Integrate with other Engroup modules:
-
- System folders.
- Specific module folders for Human Resource Management, CRM, Mail etc.
- WebDAV support
- Engroup 1.5 GA:

- We could add more small features in this release or make our UI looks better, but no major feature is new in this release.
Each milestone will last from 1-1.5 month depends on our availability for maintaining this project besides our commercial ones. We are welcome all your feedbacks to our product feartures. Here are some screenshots of the first milestone of Engroup 1.5 (note that the UI may change in the future).

Thanks for your interest to our project. Unfortunately, we do not have a public svn right now. The Engroup 1.5 M1 is nearly completed in functional requirements however we are implementing enterprise architect patterns to enable Engroup serve enterprise needs better, here are some of them:
– Modular application: we replace the non-persistent message (Osgi event) by persistent message (via messaging server ActiveMQ)
– ESB: we use Spring Integration as our bus to exchange messages among our modules.
– REST: we enable REST support that add REST in existing module very easy.
And we are busy with our commercial project too, however our core development team is working hard to release 1.5 M1 soon. I will inform you by email whenever we have news in Engroup 1.5. Thanks for follow.

You could check out some screenshots of Engroup 1.5 M1 at http://www.flickr.com/photos/34441795@N06/sets/72157616946782473/. The good news that we complete all development tasks. Only some stuffs need to be completed such as updating documentations. Keep the status 2-3 days for engroup 1.5 M1.

eSoftHead has just released Engroup 1.5 – Milestone 1. The functional features are included as plan. The major changes in this release that we applied enterprise architect practices to improve system responsive time, scalability, stablility and they are base to help engroup solve complex enterprise solutions such as distributing caching, clustering etc in engroup 2.0.
